One of the biggest black-eye’s on the Obama Administration is the botched gun-running operation known now as “Fast and Furious.” The idea was that the government could track illegal gun sales and find out who was involved in a network of gun running. What actually happened? The watchdogs in charge lost track of the guns (thousands of them), and many of them have been traced back to violent crimes and murder–including the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
And now, to make matters much much worse, one of the guns used in the November 13, 2015 Paris terrorist attacks has been linked back to Fast and Furious.
Judicial Watch has just reported that “A Report of Investigation (ROI) filed by a case agent in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives tracked the gun used in the Paris attacks to a Phoenix gun owner who sold it illegally.”
The Phoenix man also had an unregistered automatic weapon. So he’s got some explaining to do–but let’s remember how he came to have these guns in the first place.
The Paris gun was traced back by its serial numbers. When they connected it to the man in Phoenix, the BATFE discovered he had a list of violations, including two federal firearms charges—one for selling a gun illegally and another for possession of an unregistered machine-gun. Oddly, he wasn’t prosecuted.
Even stranger still, the BATFE went out of their way to “kept quiet.” Instead, they simply seized one of the guns. “Agents were told, in the process of taking the fully auto, not to anger the seller,” Judicial Watch’s source explained, “to prevent him from going public.”
Despite the official Report of Investigation, the BATFE is sending some conflicting information.
BATFE spokesman, Corey Ray, told Judicial Watch “no firearms used in the Paris attacks have been traced” by the BATFE. That doesn’t mean they haven’t been traced, though. So Judicial Watch pressed the matter, asking directly about the ROI that connected the dots between Paris and Phoenix. “I’m not familiar with the report you’re referencing,” Ray said.
So there you have it. Obama, the nation’s leading proponent for gun control, is at the helm of a government that purposefully sold guns to criminals, drug dealers, and–now we know–terrorists. So all of the rhetoric about terror watch lists, and keeping guns out of the hands of known terrorists? Just a bunch of hogwash.
