A former U.S. Army combat medic, private military contractor and firearms instructor stops a man assaulting his girlfriend on a busy Dallas area street and the entire episode is caught on camera.

“It’s my responsibility to protect myself and my family,” says Aaron Kreag. “If I can help out another person in the process, so be it.”

On his way to the movies for date night with his wife, Kreag’s plans changed when he saw a man beating a woman inside a maroon Saturn Vue.

“My first gut reaction was oh my God this guy’s going to kill this lady,” says Kreag. “This large gentleman just pounding on this lady, closed fist you know multiple times and heavy heavy elbows to the face and neck”.

The former contractor stops his vehicle in the middle of the road, grabs his .45 caliber handgun and confronted the attacker.

Kreag orders the man to stop assaulting the woman an put his hands up. As the attack stops, Kreag tells reporters the woman “was screaming, yelling for help and very much hysterical”.

Police arrive moments later and can be seen ordering the good Samaritan to the ground and handcuffing him. After sorting out the incident, police took the attacker, identified as 28-year-old MacMichael Nwaiwu into custody.

Although he never learned the woman’s name, she gave the former contractor a hug and he says “I stood there and held her for about 30 seconds. She cried on my shoulder and told me thank you. I told her I would pray for her and hoped things got better”.

Kreag during his time as a combat medic in the US Army

In an interview with Directions Magazine back in 2012, Kreag discussed his career path, giving a little insight into his background.

My career path has been a bit unusual. In the early ‘90s I joined the Army and became a combat medic/paramedic and a couple years later ended up having the opportunity to become an (All-Source) military intelligence analyst. This expanded into cartography, imagery analysis, counter intel and some other things. I studied foreign policy and thought I wanted to retire from the military.

Eventually things changed and after eight years I wanted to try my hand outside of the military. In 2003, I had the opportunity to start a business and do a variety of work overseas that included mission planning, intelligence analysis, route assessments, etc. I used a variety of skill sets in this endeavor.

About Hunter Roosevelt

Hunter's political beliefs are always evolving. Not really. He can be seen supporting whichever side has the hotter women so it's almost always the conservative side (have you seen the hippy chicks? Gross). When he's not writing he's celebrating the resurgence of his beloved Florida Gators and New York Mets.
