A federal discrimination lawsuit filed by a Islamic activist organization against a Florida gun store who posted a “Muslim-Free Zone” sign has been dismissed.
The Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) filed the lawsuit in response to a video from Florida Gun Supply owner Andy Hallinan that went viral.
U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom ruled that Hallinan’s statement is protected speech under the First Amendment and that the plaintiffs failed to show how they were injured by the statement.
“I have a moral and legal responsibility to ensure the safety of all patriots in my community. And so, effective immediately, I’m declaring Florida Gun Supply as a Muslim-free zone,” Hallinan said. “I will not arm and train those who wish to do harm to my fellow patriots.”
The video went viral earlier this year when Hallinan declared his store a “Muslim-free Zone” in the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Chattanooga, Tennessee by a Muslim extremist.
Hallinan further declared that the store would offer all concealed carry classes for free and access to the range would also be free.
