“These young men and women have written a blank check to the United States of America for up to and including their life. If it came to, could we peel an extra potato or a 40-pound turkey, you bet.”
Those are the words Heidi Barfield told local reporters when they asked why she did what she did for a group of America’s heroes.
The Florida mom heard that a group of local Marines were unable to make it home for Thanksgiving dinner with their families, so she added an extra 15 seats to the table at her home and invited them all over.
When the Marines arrived in a school bus, Heidi was out front to welcome and thank each of them individually.

When asked what he thought of Heidi’s generosity, one Marine simply said, “it meant the world to me”.
