There is no question that Hurricane Matthew is going to be a catastrophic storm for many people in multiple states. Officials at all levels of government are urging evacuations of all coastal areas from Florida to North Carolina. However, many people are not heeding those warnings. Fox News anchor Shep Smith tried to get the message across in his own way.

During a live broadcast, Smith, who is not a meteorologist, scientist or emergency services experted attempted to give his assessment and forecast of the storm in a way meant to encourage people to evacuate (we assume).

During the video, Smith said, “If this storm moves 20 miles east, you and everyone you know are dead. All of you. Because you can’t survive it, unless you are very lucky.”

Well, that’s pretty bleak, right? Just wait.

Then, a smiling Smith dropped this little bomb by casually saying, “and your kids die too.”

Well, if his goal was to create awareness through going completely viral, then mission accomplished. The internet quickly responded to the strange comments with their own comments.

Currently, 10 million+ Americans are under a Hurricane warning and millions more are under a tropical storm warning. It is expected that millions of people will be directly impacted by this storm which could bring a 10+ foot storm surge to parts of Georgia and South Carolina.

Evacuations have been ordered for most of the eastern coast of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

Without further ado, here is the video that spawned a thousand memes:

About Reagan Wilson

Reagan enjoys all things political. After realizing that neither of the current mainstream political parties encompass his beliefs he awaits the emergence of a true small government party. Good scotch, good cigars, mechanical watches, and SEC football round out his interests.
