CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Deputy Beats K9 Partner. Charges Filed.

Surveillance cameras recorded a Minnesota sheriff’s deputy punching, stomping and slamming his K-9 partner to the ground. That officer has been arrested and charges have been filed.

Ramsey County Sheriff’s Deputy Brett Arthur Berry was thrown out of a local casino due to staff complaints of belligerent behavior earlier in the night. Security officers saw the Berry assaulting the dog on camera and called police.

Berry was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts: one for assaulting a public safety dog and one for animal cruelty. If convicted, Berry faces up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine for each charge.

“Deputy Berry was sent home from the K-9 trials and placed on administrative leave,” the sheriff’s office said. “The K-9 was evaluated by a veterinarian and no injuries were found. The K-9 partner is currently in the care of others.”
