Police in Irving, Texas shot and killed an armed robbery suspect as he held a gun to the head of an employee he’d taken hostage.
A pair of officers responded to the reported robbery of a Cast Store around 2p.m.
Seeing the officers arrive, the suspect took a female employee hostage and held a gun to her, threatening to shoot her if police tried to stop him.
“The suspect rounded the corner and put the hostage into a car. At that moment, realizing the hostage’s life was in danger, the officers opened fire – striking and killing the suspect,” Irving police spokesman James McClellan told local media.
“I did hear him very clearly say, ‘Do you think I’m playing?’ You know, ‘Make another move and I’ll kill her,’ and things like that,” witness Christopher Daniels said.
The hostage was unharmed and the suspect died instantly.
