When MSNBC says you’re playing the race card too much, you’re definitely playing the race card too much. The ultra-liberal “news” network has parted ways with Melissa Harris-Perry.
The decision to terminate the one-topic reporter occurred after Harris-Perry walked off her show and played the race card against two white executives for telling her to (GASP!) cover politics during one of the most contested election years ever.
According to Harris-Perry, the left wing network was actually just trying to silence her. In a letter to staff, she wrote:
“I will not be used as a tool for their purposes,” she wrote. “I am not a token, mammy, or little brown bobble head. I am not owned by Lack, Griffin, or MSNBC.”
The letter continued:
“Here is the reality: our show was taken — without comment or discussion or notice — in the midst of an election season.
After four years of building an audience, developing a brand, and developing trust with our viewers, we were effectively and utterly silenced.
Now, MSNBC would like me to appear for four inconsequential hours to read news that they deem relevant without returning to our team any of the editorial control and authority that makes MHP Show distinctive.”
MSNBC, for it’s part, has called her comments “surprising, confusing, and disappointing.” She will not be returning to MSNBC.
